ABOUT
The design studio Aust & Amelung by Miriam and Sebastian Amelung creates and develops furniture, interiors and exhibition architecture.
Both designers studied product design at the School of Art and Design Kassel. During this time Miriam interned at the Dutch studio Tejo Remy and Rene Veenhuizen and the studio Makkink and Bey.
2011 she and Sebastian established the studio Aust & Amelung.
The studio collaborates with national and international clients such as the manufacturer COR, the Swiss company de Sede or the Italian producer COVO srl
The products of studio Aust & Amelung were presented at several international exhibitions, fairs and galleries.
They are included in the permanent collection of the Design Centrum Kielce and the Shanghai Museum of Glass and have been distinguished with prizes such as the Interieur Kortijk 2010 Grand Prize, the Designpreis der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, Gold 2013, best of Design Plus 2014 by german design council and the iF design concept award 2014.
Miriam and Sebastian are also active as lecturers. They give talks and lead workshops in universities and institutions. Since 2023 Miriam Amelung is professor for fundamentals at department for design at the University of Art and Design, Burg Giebichenstein.
